Troutman Library Committe

Citizens for the Troutman Library, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, was incorporated in the fall of 2004 to raise funds for a library building in Troutman.Having a town library in a central location will allow many residents to walk, ride bicycles, or drive a short distance, rather than drive the 15-25 miles to Statesville or Mooresville.Citizens for the Troutman Library will continue to support the library once it is built by working to raise sustaining funds.

Citizens for the Troutman Library has raised approximately $700,000 thus far for the library to be built on Church and Brown Streets in Troutman, a centrally located site on over 2 acres of land, which was donated by the Town of Troutman.Over 90% of these funds have come from local individuals, businesses, and organizations. Those who have made donations will be recognized as follows on permanent plaques on display at the library:

$100,000 and upBenefactor

$50,000 - $99,999Patron

$25,000 - $49,999Sponsor

$10,000 - $24,999Donor

$1,000 -$9,999Supporter

In addition, all donations under $1000 will be recognized as "Friends" in a Book of Recognition on display at the library.

The library as designed by John Fuller of Fuller Architecture, includes almost 7,000 square feet, and is expected to house 22,500 books, 20 computers, as well as a dedicated computer station with software for the visually impaired.Morlando-Holden Construction has been approved to build the library at an estimated cost of $763,750. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2009, with completion by January 2010, and opening to the public in the spring of 2010.

Once completed, the library building will be owned by the Town of Troutman, but Iredell County will stock, staff, and operate the library as a branch of the Iredell County Public Library System.

Citizens for the Troutman Library is a volunteer, non-profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible under Section 501(c)(3).Checks can be made out to Citizens for the Troutman Library and mailed to P.O.
